Neuropsychiatrist

Dr. Salehinia is a board-certified Neuropsychiatrist with a Maryland and Virginia License. Working as a physician over 30 years within outpatient and inpatient care, he has been evaluating, diagnosing and developing treatment plans, prescribing and managing medication, providing referrals for additional treatment, for adults as well as children and adolescents. Beyond direct patient treatment and medical management, he provides consultations within psychiatric services, forensic cases, intellectual disability, nursing homes, and teaching medical students, residents and staff, as well as consulting on traumatic brain injury, community psychiatry, PTSD, emotional trauma, dementia (including alzheimer’s), brain disorders causing cognitive, emotional and behavioural problems and many other neuropsychiatric issues.

He follows the biopsychosocial method of evaulation and developing an effective and patient-focussed treatment plan.

Dr. Salehinia practiced internal medicine for over 10 years in Iran and completed his residency in psychiatry at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois in 2007. He went on to complete his Fellowship in Psychoanalysis and Neuropsychoanalysis at the Chicago Institute of Psychoanalysis in 2007. He completed his second Fellowship in Neuropsychiatry in 2009 from Johns Hopkins Hospital and received his Board Certification in Psychiatry-Neurology in 2010 and was recertified in 2020.

He is a member of the American Psychiatry Association, the Maryland Psychiatry Association and the American Neuropsychiatry Association.
